In the last nine months, 120 new jobs have come to the Harlow Enterprise Zone, following a survey undertaken by Harlow Council of local businesses.
These jobs, all on the Templefields Industrial Estate, have come in a variety of industries including manufacturing, distribution and electronics. Landowners in the area report that the Enterprise Zone designation has had a positive effect on their ability to attract new tenants to the area. Vacancy rates in the Enterprise Zone are now very low with only a handful of units still available.
Enterprise Zone Project Director, Andrew Bramidge stated, “This very encouraging news for Harlow and for the Enterprise Zone. We have hardly yet begun to market the area and we have already seen a significant increase in enquiries and lettings, purely because of the Enterprise Zone classification. Only this week we have received another enquiry from a London based business seeking to open a new manufacturing facility in Harlow and we would hope to be able to find some space for them.”
The Enterprise Zone provides business rate discounts for growing businesses in the Life Sciences, Advanced Manufacturing and Information & Communications Technology sectors. It also enables businesses to benefit from relaxations to the planning system meaning both cost and time savings for them. Additionally, the Templefields area will see an upgrade to its broadband connectivity, work that has been prioritised because of the Enterprise Zone designation.
