Kao Park has launched the second phase of its office accommodation, Kao Two, and appointed Jan Daan Luycks as the Managing Director of its state of the art data centre, Kao DATA.
Kao Two, which is due for completion in 2017, will comprise 81,536 sq ft of Grade A office accommodation arranged over three floors and will be let on a floor by floor basis. It follows the successful pre-letting of Kao Park’s first building, Kao One, to electronics supplier Arrow Electronics and defence innovation specialise Raytheon UK in September 2015. Like Kao One, the building benefits from a newly landscaped campus environment along with a 786 space multi-storey car park and cycle storage.
Set to become a new destination for discovery and innovation, Kao Park will also house one the UK’s largest campus data centre with Kao DATA’s hyper-connectivity, secure data resilience and scalable flexibility designed to support future activity in research and development. Jan Daan Luycks, who has over 15 years of experience in the sector, has been appointed as Managing Director of Kao DATA to drive the sales strategy and customer engagement ahead of its official opening at the beginning of 2017.
Kao Park was named in honour of Charles Kao who, along with George Hockham, discovered the technology behind fibre optic cable whilst working for Standard Telephone Laboratories (which later became Nortel in the 1990s). The breakthrough, which won him the 2009 Nobel Prize for Physics, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and the Kao Park team is planning to mark the milestone and the far reaching impact it has had on science, medicine and modern communications.
