The Harlow Enterprise Zone today hosted a business delegation from Jiangsu Province in China who are in the UK exploring potential future business opportunities.
The delegates were from the Jiangsu Economic and Information Technology Commission, which represents hundreds of small and medium sized enterprises, and which is keen to identify potential future business collaborations and also in possible opportunities for Chinese businesses to invest in the UK. The delegation visited the London Road South site of the Harlow Enterprise Zone, currently being transformed into a new data centre complex and business park by Goldacre Ventures. They saw the construction work underway here, which commenced just before Christmas, and heard of the plans to re-develop the site over the next 18 months or so.
They also looked at the London Road North site and heard of the plans to develop this into a new Science Park. They were particularly interested in the potential for SMEs to locate into the Enterprise Zone and also how we might facilitate business collaborations in the target sectors of ICT, Life Sciences and Advanced Manufacturing. The visit was organised through Essex County Council’s partnership arrangement with Jiangsu Province and it is hoped will be the start of a productive bilateral relationship.
Harlow Council will shortly be advertising for a joint venture development partner to take forward the development of 25 acres of greenfield land at London Road North into the new Science Park.
